What would you do if you found out that 97% of the fruits and vegetables produced in your country were, “illegal” and unavailable to the general public? Well, French retailer Carrefour decided to create the, “Black Supermarket,” where they would sell produce that the French government deemed illegal because of a strange law that requires all produce grown to be in the Official Catalogue of Authorized Species. Farmers and producers from around the country came to sell their “illegal” crops to the general public and caused enough of a stir for the French government to discuss changing the law.
